The Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association’s Emerging Leader Development Program is looking for partners for its 2012-13 class, and members are urged to get involved by supporting it financially and by nominating a potential leader, says Sonia Tighe, program leader.
The program has three goals, she says:
- To equip potential leaders with a depth of knowledge of the issues affecting agriculture and provide them with the education and tools to deal with those issues
- To prepare potential leaders so they can improve the sustainability and economic viability of specialty crop agriculture
- To improve grassroots engagement and involvement in FFVA and other industry organizations
“The current 10-member class is heading into the home stretch of its year-long program,” Tighe says, “and we are accepting applications for the next class. The program has exceeded expectations of the class members themselves, as well as the FFVA members who had the vision to create it.
“These young leaders will make a difference. And so can you, by choosing to contribute to FFVA’s Emerging Leader Development Program. We cannot succeed without industry involvement.”
