The workshop, which takes place from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., is free but participants must register in advance.
The focus of the workshop is marketing and food safety. It will help growers learn to get the most benefit from participation in a farmers market and to safeguard their business and the public health.
Throughout the day, participants will learn about food safety, product liability and insurance, good handling practices, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), and more.
Sessions include: Safe Food Sampling at Markets, Producing Your Own Value-Added Product for Market, Promoting the Market and Letting the Market Promote You, Pricing for Market, What Products to Bring, and a Question and Answer Session for producers’ regulatory and marketing questions.
