Tidewater field day rescheduled for Sept. 14

This year’s traditional mid-August Annual Tidewater Research and Extension Center Educational Field Day has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005 and will focus on “Pre-Harvest Decisions.”

The late-season and pre-harvest peanut/cotton field tour will be held at the Tidewater Agriculture Research Farm — Hare Road, Suffolk, Va., beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The field day will cover peanut and cotton maturity, varieties, defoliation choices, field adjustment of combines and much more. Field trials and tests will be featured as well as educational exhibits.

A sponsored dinner/feast catered by Nixon’s of Edenton, N.C., will be provided for all in attendance. Joel Faircloth, Virginia Peanut/cotton specialist urges all southeast Virginia producers to mark their calendars and plan to attend.
