Sunbelt Expo: Make visit easier, more fun this week with upgraded app

The 2015 Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition mobile app offers opportunities for users to keep track of Expo events, weather, site maps and the latest news.

The 2015 Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition mobile app, introduced to Expo visitors four years ago, offers even more opportunities for users to keep track of Expo events, weather, site maps and the latest news from the pages of Southeast Farm Press.

“We’ve taken a more holistic approach with the Sunbelt mobile app,” says Farm Press publisher Greg Frey.

Initially, the app alerted visitors to various Sunbelt events, schedules, and exhibitor and demonstration locations. Last year, the app became a 365-day information source, keeping farmers, industry reps, University personnel and others interested in Sunbelt and Southeast agriculture up to date with the latest information from the industry. It also provides weather alerts.

“Last year we were able to warn Sunbelt attendees of pending severe weather and road closures,” Frey said.

The Sunbelt Ag Expo is Oct. 20-22 in Moultrie, Ga.

“Now, we have a 360-degree view of the Sunbelt Ag Expo that offers current information not only during the three-day show but also for 365 days of the year. With the updated app, mobile device users have access to blogs, videos, webinars and other content from Farm Press web pages. Anything we post onto our web pages can be available on the Sunbelt Expo mobile app. This is a new and exciting opportunity to integrate Farm Press/Penton media assets with the Sunbelt Ag Expo.”

Frey says the combination of Farm Press and the Sunbelt Agricultural Expo, the leader in Southeast agriculture information and the premier farm show in North America, provides an unparalleled source of industry news.

The app builds on the Farm Press history of technology and innovation. “Penton/Farm Press was the first ag media group in North America to launch a show app for the farm sector,” says Frey. The first farm show app was launched in 2011 at the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show in Memphis. Sunbelt was a natural follow-up to the success of the Gin Show app, Frey says.

“We’ve seen a 75 percent growth rate in user downloads year over year,” he says. “With an ever increasing number of mobile device users, we anticipate even more expansion and expect to double the number of users over the next three years.

“From here it will only get better. We will progress as technology advances.”  Frey says as new opportunities arise to provide relevant, timely information for the agriculture industry, Penton/Farm Press will create more opportunities for mobile device users to stay abreast of  news they need to make on-farm and business decisions.

The Sunbelt Mobile app is available for Apple, Android and Blackberry systems.
