About 400 farmers and others interested in agriculture attended this year's Sunbelt Ag Expo Field Day, held July 10 in Moultrie, Ga. The field day offered a sneak peek at what'll be featured at this year's 37th Annual Sunbelt Ag Expo, to be held Oct. 14-16.
"You get to see the crops in their growing stages and all the technology we use here that can help life on the farm. Technology has really revolutionized what we do, and in the next 10 years, we'll probably see more technology changes than we've seen in the last 36 years," said Sunbelt Expo Executive Director Chip Blalock.
Attendees got an up-close look at crop trials being conducted at the Expo research farm and heard from representatives of various companies whose products are being tested in the field. Also featured were variety trials for cotton, corn, peanuts and soybeans along with research results for new weed control technologies and fertilizer management.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new Spotlight State building on the Expo grounds. Georgia will be the 2014 Spotlight State with the theme, "Always in Season, Georgia Agriculture."Start slideshow
