Southeast well represented in Farm Bureau leadership

Grassroots leaders were elected at the 88th American Farm Bureau annual meeting to represent their regions at the national level in 2007.

Four state Farm Bureau presidents were elected to the AFBF board of directors: Carl Shaffer, Pennsylvania; Zippy Duvall, Georgia; Wayne Pryor, Virginia; and John Hoblick, Florida.

Re-elected to the board were:

Midwest Region: Craig Lang, Iowa; Keith Olsen, Nebraska; Bob Peterson, Ohio; and Don Villwock, Indiana.

Western Region: Kevin Rogers, Arizona; Alan Foutz, Colorado; and Mike White, New Mexico.

Northeast Region: Alex Dowse, Massachusetts.

Southern Region: Ronnie Anderson, Louisiana; Kenneth Dierschke, Texas; Steve Kouplen, Oklahoma; Lacy Upchurch, Tennessee; and Larry Wooten, North Carolina.

Chris Chinn of Missouri became the new chairperson of the AFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee for 2007. She farms near Emden, Mo.

Terry Gilbert of Kentucky and Sherry Saylor of Arizona were re-elected to two-year terms as chair and vice-chair, respectively, of the AFB Women’s Leadership Committee.

Ethel Nash of West Virginia, Helen Norris of Kansas, Ginny Paarlberg of Florida and Angela Ryden of Colorado were elected to two-year terms as well. Joyce Haak of South Dakota was elected to fill the one-year term of a retiring board member.
