James R. (Roy) Roberson has joined the Southeast Farm Press editorial staff as associate editor, with primary responsibility for coverage of the upper Southeast states.
“We’re very pleased to have Roy as a member of the Farm Press editorial team,” said Hembree Brandon, editorial director. “His extensive experience in agricultural communications will help us in providing our Southeast Farm Press readers with the most timely, relevant information to assist them in their farming enterprises.”
Roberson, a native of east Alabama, majored in journalism at Auburn University. After earning his degree there, he worked with two large agriculture-oriented advertising agencies in Atlanta and Omaha, Neb., which gave him an opportunity for wide-ranging travel throughout U.S. farm country.
He later returned to Auburn University to head its Office of Agricultural Communications, a position he held for nearly 10 years. His articles have appeared in major agricultural publications.
While at Auburn, he served as state president of Gamma Sigma Delta agricultural honorary society; president of the Communications Division of the Southern Society of Agricultural Scientists; and state president of the Agricultural Communicators in Education organization.
Roberson and his wife, Suzanne, have two children, Jennifer, who lives at Auburn, and Julie Roberson O’Toole, who lives in Cummings, Ga.
In addition to Southeast Farm Press, Farm Press Publications publishes Delta Farm Press, Southwest Farm Press, Western Farm Press, Southeast Agricultural Digest, Delta Agricultural Digest, and Farm Press Daily, an electronic newsletter.
