Robert Bailey selected for Virginia standards office

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) has selected Robert E. Bailey as the program manager for the Office of Product and Industry Standards.

In this position, he will oversee an office with diverse responsibilities including regulatory work for agricultural commodities such as fertilizers, lime, animal feed and remedies, industrial co-products and pet foods; the inspection and testing of all commercially used weighing and measuring equipment as required by Virginia law; the inspection and verification of packaged consumer products; and the inspection and testing of gasoline dispensers as well as the investigation of consumer complaints and emergency situations regarding gasoline.

Bailey is a graduate of Clemson University, where he obtained a degree in Biology. He joined VDACS in 1972 as a consumer affairs investigator. He then worked as a food inspector for six years and in the Office of Plant and Pest Services for 12 years.

In 1990, he joined VDACS’ Office of Pesticide Services where he most recently served as supervisor of enforcement and field operations.
