Case IH, a leader in guidance technology, has incorporated several improvements into its new Case IH EZ-Guide Plus lightbar. “The upgrades mark the next generation in Case IH lightbar guidance technology,” says Bob Hammitt, product manager for Case IH Advanced Farming Systems (AFS). “The Case IH EZ-Guide Plus lightbar is the first in the industry to combine the traditional lightbar guidance LED lights with a sunlight-readable graphical LCD screen.
The 160X120 pixel LCD screen allows for simplified set-up, continuous situation monitoring and improved guidance in curves and during end-of-row turns.
“It can be switched between four text-based screens, a plan view map, or a perspective view map,” Hammitt continues. “The system can accurately support a variety of both straight and curved swath patterns.”
The EZ-Guide Plus lightbar uses differential GPS (Global Positioning System) information to display how far to the left or right an operator might be from the desired path. Depending on the operator's equipment needs, the lightbar is available with or without an integrated, 12-channel GPS receiver that utilizes the free WAAS differential correction.
Three integrated buttons provide a simple interface for all configurations and operations. An optional six-button keypad improves convenience and ease of operation, and includes an audible warning alarm to alert operators when they drift from the swath, cross the headland or the DGPS correction signal is lost.
Part of the Case IH AFS line, the EZ-Guide Plus lightbar is an easy-to-use, affordable system that works well in field preparation, chemical or fertilizer applications or air seeding applications. According to Hammitt, “you can even hook the EZ-Guide Plus receiver to your combine's yield monitor and generate yield maps.”
The lightbar enables growers to improve field coverage while reducing the cost of chemicals, fertilizers, fuel and other inputs by eliminating costly skips and overlaps. “It can be used in any condition — day, night, wind, rain, dust or fog, with no deterioration in performance,” Hammitt adds. “This allows you to extend your hours of operation and increase your productivity.”
