Southern Peanut Growers Conference features marketing theme

The 19th annual Southern Peanut Growers Conference chose “Navigating the Marketplace” as the theme and featured association and government experts on the two-day educational program.

Farmers, researchers, Extension specialists and industry representatives from across the U.S. Peanut Belt gathered July 20-22 at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Fla., to discuss issues relevant to producing and marketing peanuts.

The 19th annual Southern Peanut Growers Conference chose “Navigating the Marketplace” as the theme and featured association and government experts on the two-day educational program.

The Farm Press/National Peanut Board Peanut Efficiency Award breakfast honored three top producers from the Upper Southeast, Lower Southeast and Southwest regions. Winners Jake Teichroeb, Southwest; Curry Parker, Lower Southeast; and Ray Davis, Upper Southeast, were honored with the Peanut Efficiency Awards and fielded questions from the audience on production, management and marketing programs. Program advisor Marshall Lamb, USDA-ARS, National Peanut Laboratory, said these and previous winners set a high bar for peanut producers with innovative management.

Here are a few representative images from the conference.
