The annual Virginia Ag Expo, the largest agricultural field day in Old Dominion, is set for Thursday, Aug. 7 at Bleak House Farm in Lottsburg.
The Virginia Grain Producers Association and the Virginia Soybean Association, in partnership with Virginia Cooperative Extension, are hosting the expo. The event includes more than 140 exhibitors and sponsors.
This year's theme, "Northern Neck Agriculture: 400 Years and Still Growing," focuses on the important role agriculture has played in Virginia's past while staying mindful of the innovation of hard working farmers that continues to make agriculture Virginia's largest industry.
Field plot tours begin at 9:00 a.m. and will include:
- Disease update for soybean and corn
- Insect pests of soybean and corn
- Weed control and weed resistance management
- High-yield soybean management
- High-yield corn management
- Safety demonstration for handing bulk seed containers
There is no pre-registration or registration fee. Gates open at 7:30 am. Lunch will be available from regional food vendors. There will be a wide array of food items including Virginia barbecue, seafood, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and complete dinners.
