Georgia schedules beef cattle field day

Current cattle farmers and those who want to become one will find useful knowledge at the annual University of Georgia Mountain Beef Cattle Field Day April 15 in Blairsville, Ga.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the Georgia Mountain Research and Education Center. The field day ends at 3 p.m. Participants will learn the most up-to-date, research-based information from UGA, University of Tennessee and U.S. Department of Agriculture scientists and industry representatives.

This year's topics will cover genetic defects, by-product feeds, culling, economic outlook, stocker feeding, cold-hardy bermudagrass and cool-season forages.

Nate Jaeger of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association will present an update during lunch.

There is no charge for the field day. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. It is sponsored in part by AgGeorgia Farm Credit and Braswell Cattle Company. For more information, call (706) 745-2655.
