Supreme Court rules in Monsanto’s favor

• The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that patent exhaustion does not permit farmers to reproduce seeds through planting and harvesting without the patent holder’s permission.

The United States Supreme Court ruled today in favor of Monsanto in Bowman v. Monsanto, saying that patent exhaustion does not permit farmers to reproduce seeds through planting and harvesting without the patent holder’s permission. The ruling was unanimous.
