Commodity Classic set Feb. 24-26

Corn and soybean farmers who attend Commodity Classic Feb. 24-26 in Austin, Texas will be “reaching for new limits.” Through powerful educational sessions, growers will learn from respected industry leaders about how to improve farm efficiency and profitability.

Commodity Classic is the annual convention and trade show presented by the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) and the American Soybean Association (ASA). It brings growers together with key decision-makers in the agricultural industry and farmer leaders from around the country.

ASA President Neal Bredehoeft said, “Commodity Classic is an opportunity for growers to expand their knowledge through ‘Learning Center’ sessions and access to top industry professionals. Growers who want to continually improve their farm operation, and thereby their profitability, will be making a wise investment when the attend Commodity Classic.”

Noted ag commentator John Phipps will moderate the Commodity Classic General Session panel, which includes Greenpeace founder Patrick Moore; agriculture biotechnology expert Sano Shimoda; and Lynn Jensen, U.S. Department of Agriculture's rural development director for South Dakota. The panel will explore a variety of topics, including the promise of biotechnology, combating negative consumer attitudes toward technology and farming, redefining U.S. agriculture's role to improve the economic and social well-being of Americans, and strategies for moving rural America forward.

Motivational speaker and Olympic skier Vince Poscente will be the closing speaker at the 2005 Commodity Classic General Session. Poscente, an energetic, engaging “peak performance strategist,” was recently inducted into the Speaker Hall of Fame. He will provide a series of proven performance strategies.

Another highlight of Commodity Classic will be the “Evening of Entertainment” featuring the well-known and award-winning country music group Restless Heart.
